The end of the Southern War

So the last battle is here, the die was cast, the fates are aligned. It is an all or nothing battle for the massive hoard of arcotech. The warlords and their legions stood ready waiting for first light to commence battle. Vorlath watched from the command console of the Penetratus Est, his terminators ready to deploy at his command. Sensor scans showed a unit of elite storm troopers guarding the bunkers entrance, Vorlath smiled but with no humor on his face, they would be nothing but a warm up for the main fight.

we rolled for set and each army deployed then we rolled for first turn and then did this each turn afterwards. The guard would be rolled for at the end of each turn and the highest roll would control them for a turn simulating their confused rush around the village trying to stop the attackers.

I have taken the liberty of just doing a synopsis of each turn and the pictures are at the end.

turn 1.
Seb goes first and his tanks surge forwards. The lootas target Dorkosis but stealth and shrouded and in a bunker means that only one plague bearer dies. He then shots the shokk attack gun at me and kills a daemonette and his dethkoptas target Matt and kill a swathe of drones. Hmmm no love lost here then as he draws blood from each opponent!
Matt’s stealth suits leap out and blast my noise marines dropping a couple and he blasts a hull point off of the battle wagon.
My prince flies over the battle field and uses his lash of despair on the broadsides and in a flash of dice 2 of them are slashed to pieces and my noise marines pin down his pathfinders. The fiends and the mauler charge the stealth suits and rip them a new one.
Pete casts his magic and Dorkosis gets buffed from iron arm and his soul grinders go about blowing chunks from Seb’s army.
The guard end up under Seb’s control and he hoses down the daemonettes but he loses 2 of them to plasma over heats.
Turn 2
My noise marines kill 12 of the guardsmen, Vorlath arrives and with the winged prince they target the lootas and break them with the survivors running off of the table. My fiends charge the riptide and do 7 wounds all of which are saved and he fails to touch them in return [this would be a recurring theme each turn].
The broadsides unleash hell in the form of a missile storm and my keeper is sent screaming back into the warp! Longstrike sub munitions the orks.
The big mek screams for more power to his shokk attack gun and with a scream and a whiff of ozone he vanishes only to appear in the middle of the broadside team and in combat with the crisis suit commander, oh shit are heard to be his last words. However his death is not in vain as the ork warlord and his retinue bail out of the battle wagon and charge the broadsides and a combination of 2 handed choppas and power klaws kills them all.
Pete’s entire army arrives and drop around Dorkosis whose warlord trait stops them from scattering. They throw everything they have at Vorlath but their armour and the idol of excess means that only one drops.
Turn 3
The Tau reserves arrive and they unload into the warboss doing 30 wounds but eavy armour and a pain boy stop all bar 3 nobs dying , The riptide takes another hull point from the battle wagon.
The Nurgle horde advances on Vorlath and unleash their foul fire power but the Dark Lady smiles as the templates scatter and kill plague bearers instead. The beasts charge Vorlath but they lose heavily as the terminators show their worth.
The daemonettes and the noise marines charge the flies and wipe them out whilst the prince makes a valiant effort of stopping a plague marine unit single handedly but gets his ass handed to him.
The ardboys and shoota boys target Vorlath [who the hell did I upset?] but can’t penetrate their armour. The dakkjet arrives and unloads into the nurgle prince and scores some wounds whilst the battle wagon tank shocks the riptide but gets ripped to pieces in the combat phase for its troubles. Seb’s warboss continues to massacre fire warriors but his time is drawing near as he is now alone and in the open, Dynore the ethereal points at the ork and draws his thumb across his throat, Longstrike takes aim and vaporises the huge monster.
Turn 4
The Tau loose at last start shooting Vorlath’s unit [bloody kids]. Epidemus and his retinue assault the orks and the soul grinders again scatter and send more plague bearers back to Nurgle’s garden. Dorkosis and a soul grinder charge Vorlath who declares a challenge. Vorlath inflicts three wounds but it is not enough as the Great Unclean One laughs and smashes Vorlath to his knees and then backhands the chaos lord smashing his motor controls on his armour leaving him trapped in his immobile on the floor. Lay there puppet I will be back for you later Dorkosis chuckles. The terminators strip 2 hull points from the grinder.
Epidemus and his unit roll up another ork squad and look for some more fresh meat.
The noise marines kill 8 fire warriors with the blastmasters as they celebrate the death of the ork warlord. The slaanesh terminator champion does 3 wounds on Dorkosis who saves 2 of them and then wipes out the unit [so damn close].
Turn 5
The mauler charges Longstrike and shreds the hammerhead. The noise marines target the nurgle prince and inflict 2 wounds and then the dakka jet targets him as well and finishes him off. The tau outflank the mauler hoping for a rear armour shot but it’s daemonic saves stop them all. The Tau resign themselves to their fate as the mauler turns and prepares to charge them.
The soul grinders drop templates onto the noise marines and daemonettes holding the bunker entrance and wipe them out.
turn 6
The orks continue in combat with Epidemus but are now too few in number to make a difference.
The soul grinders and Dorkosis move towards the bunker but they realise that they will not make it.
The mauler charges the Riptide and eats it just to show the fiends how to actually kill one of these things.
The final outcome
No one has a model in the bunker entrance so no clear winner. Pete has 2vps as do I and Matt and Seb have 1 each. Epidemus has racked up a tally of 89! Wow destruction on a massive scale and my notes just don’t do it justice but we had a blast.

Vorlath voxed the Penetratus Est, the battle is lost, bring the rain. Acknowledged commander, firing co-ordinates? Target my location. Your will lord. Vorlath drifted intro unconsciousness as he heard emergency teleport extraction of our lord, forward lance batteries target the bunker and fire at will.

  1. Some great looking armies there mate. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us, a great read.
So does this mean that you’re free to join in the Storms of Judgement campaign?

  2. Great report dude! I really enjoy these multiplayer games as alliances form and are broken depending on who appears to be winning at the time.
    Awesome looking sandwiches too!
